- 2 cups water
- 2 cups sugar
- 12 teaspoon lemon juice
- 2 no. 4 pkgs phyllo dough
- 2 cups butter, melted
- 3 cups chopped walnuts
- 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 1 tablespoon sugar
Directions

1Syrup: Prepare syrup by dissolving sugar in water in a saucepan.

2Bring to a boil.

3Reduce heat.

4Simmer for 10 minutes.

5Add lemon juice.
-
6Remove from heat and set aside to cool.

7Assembly: Line a baking tray with 2 sheets of filo dough.

8Brush the top with melted butter.

9Line two more sheets and brush with butter.

10Continue in this manner until the first package of filo is done.

11Mix chopped nuts with cinnamon and sugar in a bowl.

12Spread walnut mixture on filo dough.

13Repeat the dough and butter procedure with the second package of filo, except the last five sheets.

14For the last five sheets, butter each separately.

15Finish by brushing all the remaining butter on top.

16Cut into diamond shapes or squares.

17Bake in 350 F oven for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown.

18Cool for 10 minutes.

19Pour syrup onto baklava.

20Serve at room temperature.
