  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1 Tbsp. sugar
  • 2 Tbsp. shortening or oil
  • 1/3 to 1/2 c. milk or water
  • small amount hot oil (for frying)

Directions

    Mix ingredients to form a dough.

    Pinch or spoon an egg-size portion of the dough.

    Flatten to a 1-inch patty on a flour-dusted plate.

    Fry to a golden brown, turning once or twice.

    Great with beef stew cooked over an open fire.
