  • 3/4 c. firmly packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 c. plus 2 Tbsp. butter or margarine
  • 1/2 c. milk
  • 1 1/2 c. finely chopped pecans
  • 1 1/2 c. sugar

Directions

    Lightly coat wax paper with vegetable cooking spray.

    Combine sugars, butter, milk and chopped pecans in a heavy 3-quart saucepan.

    Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring constantly. Boil uncovered 1 to 2 minutes, stirring constantly or until candy thermometer reaches 220°.

    Remove saucepan from heat and beat 4 to 6 minutes with a wooden spoon or just until mixture begins to thicken.

    Working rapidly, drop by tablespoon onto prepared wax paper.

    Let stand until firm.
