Ingredients

  • 2 cans refried beans
  • 1 c. Cheddar cheese, grated
  • 1/2 c. minced onion
  • 1 Tbsp. chili powder
  • 1 tsp. ground cumin
  • 1 tsp. garlic powder
  • 1 tsp. m.s.g.
  • 2 Tbsp. bacon grease
  • 1/8 tsp. Tabasco sauce
  • chopped onion
  • chopped tomato
  • chopped lettuce
  • taco shells

Directions

    Heat bacon grease in heavy skillet; add onions, brown and then add the beans and mix well.

    Cook over low heat for a few minutes. Add all other ingredients, except Cheddar cheese; mix thoroughly and simmer.

    Gradually add Cheddar cheese.

    Cook until cheese is melted and blended well with the beans.

    Correct seasoning as needed.

    Serve in crisp taco shells as with other tacos, but do not use taco sauce.
