  • 2 lb. lean beef, cut into 2-inch cubes
  • 2 lb. small onions
  • 1/4 tsp. allspice
  • 1/2 tsp. ground cloves
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 1 c. tomato sauce
  • 1/2 c. wine or 2 Tbsp. wine vinegar
  • 4 Tbsp. olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • salt and pepper

    Cover pan and simmer without stirring for 2 hours or until meat is tender and liquid is reduced.
