  • 2 lb. round steak
  • 1 lb. hamburger
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 green pepper
  • 1 Tbsp. shortening
  • salt
  • pepper
  • garlic salt

Directions

    Cut round steak into 5 x 3-inch pieces.

    Pound until 1/4-inch thick.

    Place chopped onion and pepper in the middle of the pieces and sprinkle with the spices to taste.

    Place hamburger with the onion and pepper.

    Wrap the steak around the hamburger and close it up with toothpicks to make the Birds.

    Melt shortening in a cast-iron skillet and brown the Birds.

    Add water and simmer until tender.

    Add a few drops of Kitchen Bouquet browning sauce. Remove Birds and thicken for gravy.
