- 2 lb. round steak
- 1 lb. hamburger
- 1 onion, chopped
- 1 green pepper
- 1 Tbsp. shortening
- salt
- pepper
- garlic salt
Directions

1Cut round steak into 5 x 3-inch pieces.

2Pound until 1/4-inch thick.

3Place chopped onion and pepper in the middle of the pieces and sprinkle with the spices to taste.

4Place hamburger with the onion and pepper.

5Wrap the steak around the hamburger and close it up with toothpicks to make the Birds.

6Melt shortening in a cast-iron skillet and brown the Birds.

7Add water and simmer until tender.

8Add a few drops of Kitchen Bouquet browning sauce. Remove Birds and thicken for gravy.
