- 2 c. self-rising flour
- 2 tsp. baking powder
- 2 Tbsp. powdered sugar
- 6 Tbsp. lard or shortening
- 1 c. buttermilk
- 1/2 c. butter or margarine, melted
Directions

1Sift together dry ingredients into a large mixing bowl.

2Cut lard into dry ingredients.

3Add buttermilk and mix with hands or wooden spoon.

4Pour out onto floured surface and roll or pat dough to approximately 1/2-inch thick.

5Use biscuit cutter to shape biscuits and place on greased baking pan.

6Bake at 400° until just starting to brown.

7Remove from oven and brush top of biscuits with melted butter.

8Return to oven and bake until golden brown.
