- 6 Winesap apples or other cooking apples
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 1 c. water
- 1/4 c. red wine or sherry
- 3 Tbsp. butter
- 2 tsp. cornstarch
- 1 stick cinnamon, broken into pieces
- red food coloring
Directions

1Peel and quarter apples.

2Mix together other ingredients. Pour over apples in a 9 x 12-inch baking dish.

3Bake at 275° for 1 hour.

4Baste every now and then.

5Serve warm or cold with ham, pork roast or chops or barbecue.
