- 1/2 gal. milk (scalded)
- 1 1/2 c. sugar
- 1 Tbsp. flour
- 5 eggs, well beaten
- 1 Tbsp. vanilla
Directions

1Scald milk in double boiler.

2Mix flour and sugar.

3Add to milk.

4Cook about 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.

5Temper well-beaten eggs with some of the hot milk, then add to rest of milk, stirring well.

6Cook 2 or 3 more minutes.

7Remove from heat; add vanilla.

8Strain and cool.

9You may also want to temper the sugar and flour with a small amount of hot milk.

10Serve with nutmeg sprinkled on the top.
