- 1 c. carrots, grated
- 1 c. celery, diced
- 2 c. beets, grated
- 1 c. cabbage, shredded
- 1/2 c. fresh or dried mushrooms
- 2 medium onions, chopped fine
- 10 grains whole pepper
- 2 bay leaves
- 6 1/2 c. water
- 2 c. tomato sauce
- 2 Tbsp. cooking oil
- salt to taste
- dill weed to taste
- 1 Tbsp. lemon juice
Directions

1Grate carrots and beets on medium size grater.

2Add diced celery, one chopped onion, salt and cold water and simmer for 1/2 hour.

3Fry chopped onion in oil until light in color.

4Add cabbage and mushrooms.

5Simmer until all vegetables are tender, but firm. Add tomato sauce, seasonings and lemon juice.
