1Combine flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and 1 pinch salt or salt substitute. Mix well. Cut in shortening until mixture looks like dry crumbs or for a more moist muffin use same amount vegetable oil.

2Add milk and egg mixed together; mix well. Stir in cereal. (Flake cereal with fruit added is good.) Fill greased muffin pan 2/3 full. Bake 20 minutes at 400 degrees. These freeze very well.
