  • 4 1/4 cups milk heated
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 5 ounces schnapps
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 lemon
  • candied fruit
  • salt
  • butter

Directions

    Preheat the oven to 170 degrees Celsius.

    Place the bread and soak in hot milk for 4 hours.

    Mash the bread with a fork. Add the sugar, schnapps, eggs, lemon zest, candied fruit, and a pinch of salt. Mix until smooth.

    Pour the mixture into a greased and floured deep-sided round baking pan. Level the surface of the mixture and top with curls of butter.

    Bake for 1 hour. Once cooled, sprinkle with powdered sugar.
