Broccoli Chinese Style

- 1 small bunch broccoli
- 2 Tbsp. oil
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 1/2 tsp. salt (optional)
- 1/2 tsp. sugar (optional)
- 1/2 c. water
- 2 tsp. soy sauce
Directions

1Wash broccoli; cut flowerets off stem.

2Peel off stringy outsides and cut stems diagonally in 1-inch pieces.

3Parboil broccoli in boiling water which has 1 teaspoon baking soda added to it.

4This will help retain the green color of the broccoli. Rinse in cold water and drain.

5Heat the oil in a skillet.

6Add the broccoli; saute until covered with oil.

7Add remaining ingredients; mix well.

8Cover skillet; turn heat down and cook until broccoli is tender, approximately 2 to 3 minutes.

9Serves 4.
