- 2 c. fresh bread crumbs
- 1/2 c. butter, melted
- 4 c. tart apples, peeled and sliced
- 1/2 c. brown sugar
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- grated rind and juice of 1/2 lemon
Directions

1Combine butter and bread crumbs; toss until well blended, then set aside.

2Prepare the apples, then toss with sugar, cinnamon, lemon rind and juice.

3Layer the apples and crumbs in a buttered baking dish, beginning and ending with crumbs.

4Cover the dish with foil.

5Bake at 350° for half an hour; remove foil and continue baking another 10 minutes, or until the crumb topping is crisp and brown.

6Serve hot, with cream.
