  • 1 box raisins
  • 2 c. boiling water
  • 3 tsp. soda
  • 3 Tbsp. butter
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 2 c. sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 4 c. sifted flour
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 c. chopped nuts

Directions

    Grease and flour several empty soup and/or vegetable cans. Preheat oven to 350°.

    Add soda to boiling water; soak raisins in soda water.

    Add butter and salt to raisins and water.

    Soak for approximately 10 minutes.

    Cream sugar with well beaten eggs.

    Add flour alternately with liquid from raisins.

    Add raisins, vanilla and nuts.

    Pour into cans (about 2/3 full).

    Bake for 45 minutes to 1 hour.
