- 1 c. chopped dates
- 1 c. raisins
- 2 tsp. soda
- 2 c. boiling water
- 1/2 c. oleo
- 1 3/4 c. sugar
- 2 eggs
- 4 c. flour
- 2 tsp. vanilla
- nuts
- 1/4 tsp. salt
Directions

1Pour boiling water over the fruit.

2Add soda and oleo and stir well.

3Let stand until completely cold.

4Add rest of ingredients and mix well.

5Grease and flour 7 (No. 303) cans.

6Fill 1/2 full; bake at 325° for 30 to 35 minutes.

7Test with toothpick.

8If not brown enough, raise heat.

9Hit side of can with hand to loosen. Remove from can for cooling.
