- 3 c. sugar, divided
- 1 c. milk
- 1/2 c. butter
- 1/2 c. chopped pecans
Directions

1Combine 2 cups sugar, milk and butter in a heavy 3-quart saucepan; stir well.

2Cook over medium heat, stirring often, until butter melts.

3Place remaining 1 cup sugar in a heavy skillet. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until sugar melts and syrup is light golden brown.

4Gradually stir this into butter mixture.

5Cook until mixture reaches soft ball stage.

6Remove from heat; let mixture cool.

7Beat at high speed with electric mixer until mixture will hold its shape.

8Shape candy into two 7 x 1 1/2-inch logs.

9Roll in pecans.

10Wrap in plastic wrap; chill 1 to 2 hours.

11Cut into slices.

12Makes 2 pounds.
