  • 2 c. all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 3 Tbsp. plus 1 tsp. chilled stick margarine, cut into small pieces
  • 3/4 c. 1% low-fat buttermilk

Directions

    Combine flour and the next 3 ingredients in a bowl.

    Cut in chilled margarine with a pastry blender until the mixture resembles coarse meal.

    Add buttermilk; stir until moist.

    Turn dough out onto a heavily floured surface; knead dough 4 or 5 times.

    Roll dough to a 1/2-inch thickness; cut with a 2 1/2-inch biscuit cutter.

    Place on a baking sheet.

    Bake at 450° for 11 minutes, or until golden.
