- 2 c. Martha White self-rising flour
- 2 Tbsp. butter
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 1 c. buttermilk
- shortening
Directions

1Mix flour and baking powder.

2Heat oven to 500°.

3Mix in buttermilk.

4Put 2 tablespoons butter into 1/4 cup measure and fill with shortening.

5Melt butter/margarine mixture in oven in iron skillet.

6Shape dough into biscuits with hands; add more flour if dough is sticky.

7Place biscuits into skillet and turn to coat.

8Bake 10 minutes at 500°.
