- 2 c. buttermilk
- 1 c. butter (not margarine)
- 1/4 c. light corn syrup
- 2 tsp. baking soda
- 4 c. sugar
- 2 c. chopped pecans
- 2 Tbsp. vanilla
Directions

1Put buttermilk, butter, corn syrup, baking soda and sugar into a large 6 to 8-quart pot.

2Place on low heat, stirring until sugar is melted.

3Cook to 236° on candy thermometer or until soft ball forms when dropped into cold water.

4Remove from heat.

5Cool to lukewarm.

6Add nuts and vanilla.

7Beat until mixture becomes thick and loses it's gloss.

8Pour into buttered 12 x 14-inch pan. Cool.

9Cut into squares.

10Makes about 3 pounds.
