- 2 c. Sugar
- 1 c. Buttermilk
- 1/2 c. Margarine
- 1 Tbsp. Corn syrup
- 1 tsp Baking soda
- 1 tsp Vanilla extract
- 1/2 c. Walnuts, minced
Directions

1Butter sides of a large heavy saucepan or possibly Dutch oven.

2Combine first 5 ingredients in pan and cook over medium-low heat, stirring constantly, till margarine melts and sugar dissolves.

3Use a pastry brush dipped in warm water to wash down any sugar crystals on the sides of the pan.

4Increase heat to medium and bring to a boil.

5Don't stir while syrup is boiling.

6Continue to cook until syrup reaches a soft ball stage

7(approximately 234 - 240 degrees).

8Remove from heat; add in vanilla.

9Don't stir till syrup cools to approximately 200 degrees.

10Using medium speed of an electric mixer, beat fudge until thickened and no longer glossy.

11Stir in walnuts.

12Pour into a buttered 8 x 8 inch pan.

13Cold completely.

14Cut into squares and store in an airtight container.
