  • 12 large cabbage leaves
  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 1 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. pepper
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1/4 c. uncooked rice
  • 1 (8 oz.) can tomato sauce

    Scald cabbage in hot water; drain well.

    Mix all ingredients except tomato sauce.

    Form small rolls of beef mixture.

    Place in cabbage leaves; fold ends.

    Roll up and fasten with toothpicks. Place in a buttered casserole dish and pour on tomato sauce. Cover and bake 1 hour in a 350° oven.

    Remove lid 15 minutes before serving.
