  • 10 strips bacon
  • 1/2 slightly stale baguette, cut into cubes
  • pinch of salt, pepper, oregano, basil, mustard powder and thyme
  • 2 medium size heads romaine lettuce
  • 3 fresh garlic cloves, finely chopped
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 c. white vinegar
  • 2 whole eggs
  • 1 tsp. Dijon mustard
  • 2 c. vegetable oil
  • juice of 1 lemon
  • 1/2 tsp. white pepper
  • 6 Tbsp. Parmesan cheese

Directions

    Fry the bacon until crisp.

    Pour the bacon fat into a bowl and add the bread cubes.

    Add the salt, pepper, oregano, basil, mustard and thyme and toss until the cubes are completely coated.

    Place the cubes on a cookie sheet and bake in a 350° oven until they are golden brown, stirring occasionally to ensure that they don't burn.
