- 3 c. sifted Swans Down cake flour
- 2 tsp. Calumet baking powder
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 4 Tbsp. butter
- 1 c. sugar
- 1 egg (unbeaten)
- 3/4 c. milk
- 1 tsp. vanilla
Directions

1Sift flour once; measure and add baking powder and salt.

2Sift together three times; cream butter thoroughly.

3Add sugar gradually and cream together until light and fluffy.

4Add egg and beat very thoroughly.

5Add flour, alternately with milk, a small amount at a time.

6Beat after each addition until smooth.

7Add vanilla.

8Bake in a greased pan, 8 x 8 x 2-inch, in moderate oven (350°) for 50 minutes.
