- 6 medium apples
- 1 c. brown sugar, firmly packed
- 1/2 white sugar
- 1/2 c. corn syrup
- 1/2 c. water
- 1 Tbsp. butter
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1 tsp. red food coloring
Directions

1Wash and dry apples.

2Stick wooden sticks into stem of apples. Combine sugar, corn syrup, water and butter in a deep saucepan. Cook over low heat until sugar is dissolved, stirring constantly. Continue cooking until a small amount of syrup becomes slightly brittle in cold water.

3Remove from heat.

4Add vanilla and coloring.

5Dip apples one at a time into syrup.

6Work quickly. Cool on wax paper or buttered plate.
