  • 5 c. vinegar
  • 5 c. water
  • 1/2 c. salt
  • 2 Tbsp. dill seed
  • red pepper to taste (about 1 Tbsp.)
  • 1 gal. green beans (not broken)

    Lay green beans flat in a big pot; cover with water and cook 30 minutes.

    Drain and cool.

    Mix remaining ingredients in a pot and bring to a boil.

    Pack green beans in pint jars, standing beans on end.

    Place 1 garlic bud in each jar.

    Cover beans with boiling liquid mixture.

    Seal.
