Caramel Brownies

Ingredients

  • 1 box German chocolate cake mix
  • 3/4 c. margarine, melted
  • 1/3 c. evaporated milk
  • 1 c. chopped pecans
  • 1 small bag caramels
  • water or milk
  • 6 oz. bag chocolate chips

Directions

    Mix cake mix, margarine, milk and pecans.

    Press 1/2 of this mixture into a 9 x 13-inch pan and bake at 350° for 10 minutes. While this bakes, melt caramels with a small amount of water or milk to make easier to spread.

    Pour caramel mixture over baked portion of brownie mixture.

    Pour chocolate chips over caramels. Sprinkle other 1/2 of brownie mixture over this and bake for 20 minutes.

    Cut into squares and place on platter.
