Caramel Layer Chocolate Squares

  • 1 (14 oz.) pkg. light caramels
  • 2/3 c. evaporated milk
  • 1 pkg. German chocolate cake mix
  • 3/4 c. margarine, melted
  • 1 c. chocolate chips

Directions

    Melt caramels and blend with 1/3 cup milk.

    Beat together cake mix, margarine and 1/3 cup milk.

    Press half of cake mixture into greased 9 x 13-inch pan and bake for 6 minutes at 350°.

    Spread chocolate chips over baked crust.

    Spread caramel mixture over chips, then rest of cake mixture.

    Bake 15 to 18 minutes at 350°. Cool and refrigerate to set caramels, then cut into squares. Serves 8.
