Caramel Layer Chocolate Squares

- 1 (14 oz.) pkg. light caramels
- 2/3 c. evaporated milk
- 1 pkg. German chocolate cake mix
- 3/4 c. margarine, melted
- 1 c. chocolate chips
Directions

1Melt caramels and blend with 1/3 cup milk.

2Beat together cake mix, margarine and 1/3 cup milk.

3Press half of cake mixture into greased 9 x 13-inch pan and bake for 6 minutes at 350°.

4Spread chocolate chips over baked crust.

5Spread caramel mixture over chips, then rest of cake mixture.

6Bake 15 to 18 minutes at 350°. Cool and refrigerate to set caramels, then cut into squares. Serves 8.
