Ingredients
- 2 c. light brown sugar
- 1/2 c. light corn syrup
- 1/2 lb. margarine
- 1/4 tsp. cream of tartar
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 6 qt. popped popcorn
Directions

1In a 2 1/2-quart saucepan, combine brown sugar, corn syrup, margarine, cream of tartar and salt.

2Bring to a boil over medium heat.

3Stirring constantly, boil rapidly to a hard boil stage (260°) or 5 minutes.

4Remove from heat.

5Stir in baking soda quickly but thoroughly.

6Pour at once over popcorn in a large roasting or baking pan.

7Stir gently until all popcorn is covered. Bake at 200° for 1 hour, stirring 2 or 3 times during baking.

8Turn out onto waxed paper.

9Let cool completely.

10Break apart.

11Store in tightly covered container.

12Makes 6 quarts.
