Ingredients

  • 6 slices bacon
  • 1 1/2 lb. Eckrich kielbasa sausage, cut in slices, then cut in half
  • 1 1/2 lb. lean ground beef
  • 1 large onion, cut in chunks
  • 1 bell pepper, cut in chunks
  • 1/2 jalapeno pepper, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 c. dark red wine
  • 1/2 c. Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp. mustard
  • 1 tsp. celery seed
  • 1 1/2 tsp. chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 1/2 tsp. pepper
  • 6 c. Italian tomatoes
  • 1 (15 oz.) can pinto beans
  • 1 (15 oz.) can kidney beans
  • 1 (15 oz.) can garbanzo beans

Directions

    Brown bacon and sausage.

    Set aside.

    Brown beef and drain. Cook onion, pepper, garlic and jalapeno pepper over low heat for 2 to 3 minutes.

    Stir in wine and Worcestershire sauce.

    Simmer 10 minutes.

    Mash tomatoes.

    Add tomatoes and juice and all meats to onion mixture.

    Heat to boiling.

    Reduce heat and simmer 1/2 hour, covered.

    Stir in all beans.

    Cover and simmer 1 hour, stirring occasionally.
