Ingredients
- 1 cup softened butter
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 2 eggs
- 2 3/4 cups flour, sifted
- 2 teaspoons cream of tartar
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar, plus 1 tsp
- 2 teaspoons cinnamon
- 1/2 - 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper, depending on your taste
Directions

1MIx together the flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.

2With a stand mixer, cream the butter and sugar. Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.

3With the mixture still running, incorporate the flour mixture in small increments. Turn off the mixer, and spoon the dough into a bowl.

4Wrap the dough in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for a few hours.

5Mix the sugar with the cinnamon and cayenne in a small bowl.

6Roll the dough into golf-ball sized balls.

7Roll the balls into the sugar mixture.

8Bake on a cookie sheet at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 8-10 minutes.
