Ingredients

  • 3 c. sliced celery
  • 1/4 c. slivered almonds
  • 1/2 c. water chestnuts
  • 2 (4 oz.) cans sliced mushrooms
  • 1/4 c. butter
  • 1 Tbsp. butter
  • 3 Tbsp. flour
  • 1 c. chicken broth
  • 3/4 c. half and half
  • 1/2 c. grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 c. soft bread crumbs
  • 3 Tbsp. butter

Directions

    Cook celery in small amount of boiling water; drain.

    Combine celery, almonds, chestnuts and mushrooms.

    Pour into greased 12 x 8 x 2-inch casserole dish.

    Melt 1/4 cup plus 1 tablespoon of butter and blend in flour and cook for 1 minute.

    Add chicken broth and half and half.

    Pour over veggies.

    Combine cheese and bread crumbs and drizzle with melted butter.

    Bake at 350° for 25 minutes.
