- 5 md. onions
- 1/4 cup butter
- margarine
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 cups milk
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/8 tsp. pepper
- 2 cups shredded American cheese
Directions

1Cut onions into thin slices; separate into rings.

2Place onion rings in an ungreased 1-1/2 quart casserole.

3Melt butter in saucepan; blend in flour, and gradually stir in milk.

4Cook, stirring constantly, until thickened.

5Add salt, pepper and cheese; stir until cheese has melted.

6Pour sauce over onions.

7Bake, uncovered, at 325F for approximately 45 minutes.
