Cherry Chocolate Crisp

  • 1 butter to grease baking dish
  • 3/4 cup plus 3 tablespoons flour, divided
  • 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) butter, cut into small cubes
  • 1 cup old fashioned rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 cup dark chocolate chips
  • 2 lb frozen sweet cherries, thawed

    Preheat oven to 375F.

    Butter a 2 quart baking dish.

    In a large bowl, mix together 3/4 cup flour, brown sugar, and salt.

    Using a pastry blender, work butter into flour mixture until it is the texture of coarse meal.

    Add oats and mix until large clumps form.

    In a large bowl, toss cherries with the chocolate chips, sugar, and remaining 3 tablespoons flour.

    Place mixture in the 2 quart baking dish and sprinkle with the topping.

    Bake for 45 to 55 minutes, or until golden and bubbling.

    Let cool 10 minutes before serving.
