  • 1/8 tsp. salt
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 3 c. drained, pitted sour cherries
  • 1/2 c. cherry juice
  • 1/4 tsp. almond extract
  • red food coloring (optional)

Directions

    Mix together the ingredients and let the mixture stand for 15 minutes.

    Pour it into a 9-inch pie shell and dot it with 1 tablespoon of butter.

    Add a top crust, and bake the pie at 425° for 50 minutes.
