- 1 c flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1 c sugar
- 4 Tbsp butter seasoning
- 1/2 tsp vanilla
- 1/2 c milk
- 2 c (#2 1/2 can) of pitted sour cherries drained, 1 c cherry juice (if not enough cherry juice, add water to make 1 c)
Directions

1Grease 8 x 8 x 2 cake pan. Sift flour, add baking powder, salt and use 1/2 c sugar.

2Add butter (shortening or margarine) milk and vanilla mix with mixer.

3Pour into pan, cover with cherries and sprinkle with remaining 1/2 cup of sugar.

4Heat cherry juice and pour over mixture.

5Bake in 375 degree oven for 40 to 50 minutes.

6Serve warm, plain or with ice cream.

7Newer ovens take less time to cook.
