Ingredients

  • 1 c. (2 sticks) margarine
  • 1 lb. (16 oz.) brown sugar
  • 3/4 c. granulated sugar
  • 1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
  • 4 eggs, lightly beaten
  • 2 c. sifted self-rising flour
  • 1 c. chopped pecans
  • confectioners sugar

    Preheat oven to 350°.

    Grease and flour 13 x 9 x 2-inch pan. Melt butter in large saucepan over low heat; remove pan from heat. Stir in remaining ingredients, except confectioners sugar, in order listed.

    Mix well after each addition, using large spoon to mix not mixer.

    Spread batter in prepared pan.

    Bake for 35 to 40 minutes or until cake begins to pull away from sides of pan.

    Cool in pan for 10 minutes.

    Sift confectioners sugar over top.

    Cool completely and cut into bars or squares.

    Makes about 12 to 15 servings.
