Ingredients

  • 2 lb. hamburger
  • 2 Tbsp. oil
  • 2 large onions
  • 1 large green pepper
  • 1/2 tsp. each: garlic, nutmeg and oregano
  • black pepper to taste
  • 5 tsp. chili pepper
  • salt to taste
  • 30 oz. kidney beans
  • 30 oz. pinto beans
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 8 whole cloves
  • 6 c. tomatoes in sauce
  • 10 oz. tomato paste

Directions

    Brown beef and drain.

    Add oil, garlic, onions, green pepper and other spices except chili powder.

    Add these ingredients to a large pot after steaming in a skillet.

    Add crushed tomatoes, tomato paste and chili powder.

    Stir in beans, cloves and bay leaves (drain kidney bean juice).

    Cook at least 1 hour; the longer it cooks, the better it is.
