  • 1/2 c. butter flavor Crisco
  • 6 Tbsp. granulated sugar
  • 6 Tbsp. light brown sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 egg
  • 1 c. and 1 Tbsp. unsifted all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 or 1 c. semi-sweet chocolate chips

    Preheat oven to 375°.

    Cream together shortening, sugars, vanilla and egg.

    Sift flour, soda and salt.

    Stir into creamed mixture; blend well.

    Stir in chocolate chips.

    Drop from a teaspoon 2 inches apart on an ungreased cookie sheet.

    Bake at 375° for 8 to 10 minutes.

    Cool on a cookie sheet about 1 minute; then remove to a rack to finish cooking.

    Makes approximately 3 to 3 1/2 dozen cookies.
