  • 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 c. cocoa
  • dash of salt
  • 4 egg yolks
  • 2 c. milk
  • 1/4 c. butter or margarine
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 1 baked 9-inch pastry shell

Directions

    Combine first 4 ingredients in a saucepan; set sugar mixture aside.

    Combine egg yolks and milk; stir into sugar mixture.

    Add butter.

    Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until mixture thickens and boils.

    Remove from heat.

    Stir in vanilla.

    Spoon into pastry shell.

    Spread meringue over hot filling.

    Bake at 325° for 25 to 28 minutes.
