  • 12 oz. chocolate chips
  • 1 (8 oz.) pkg. cream cheese
  • 1 (5 oz.) can evaporated milk
  • 1 c. chopped walnuts
  • 1/2 tsp. almond extract
  • 1/2 tsp. vanilla
  • 3 c. unsifted flour
  • 1 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 c. butter or margarine
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 tsp. almond extract
  • 1/2 tsp. vanilla

Directions

    Combine chocolate chips, cream cheese and evaporated milk in saucepan.

    Melt and mix on very low heat; add walnuts and 1/2 teaspoon almond extract.

    Cool.

    Combine remaining ingredients in large mixing bowl.

    Press 1/2 mixture into a greased 9 x 13-inch pan.

    Spread chocolate mixture on top.

    Sprinkle rest of mixture on top of filling.

    Bake

    at 350° for 35 to 40 minutes or until brown on top.

    When cold, cut into bars or squares.
