  • 1 c. butter or margarine
  • 2 vegetable shortening
  • 5 eggs
  • 3 c. plain flour
  • 1 c. milk
  • 2 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1/2 c. cocoa
  • 1 c. pecans, chopped
  • 2 tsp. vanilla

    Beat shortening and sugar until light and fluffy.

    Add eggs, one at a time; mix well.

    Mix flour and cocoa together.

    Add flour and milk alternately; mix well.

    Add pecans and vanilla; mix well. Bake at 325° for 1 hour and 15 minutes, or until toothpick comes out clean.
