  • 1 (8 1/2-inch) baked pie shell
  • 3/4 c. sugar
  • 2 Tbsp. cocoa
  • 1/4 c. cornstarch
  • 3 egg yolks
  • 2 c. milk
  • 1 tsp. oleo
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • pinch of salt
  • 3 egg whites

    Combine

    sugar, oleo, cornstarch, cocoa, salt and milk. Cook in double boiler until it begins to thicken, stirring frequently.

    Then add slightly beaten egg yolks and cook until thick

    (or starts to boil).

    Remove from heat and add vanilla. Pour

    into baked pie shell.

    Beat egg whites until stiff.

    Add 3 tablespoons

    sugar and spread this meringue over top of pie and brown in 325° oven.
