- 4 eggs
- 1/2 c. butter, melted
- 1 c. evaporated milk
- 1 1/2 c. sugar
- 3 level Tbsp. plain flour
- 6 Tbsp. cocoa
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- pinch of salt
Directions

1Beat egg yolks with 3/4 cup sugar and melted butter.

2Mix the other 3/4 cup sugar with cocoa, flour and salt.

3Add enough hot water to dissolve mixture (very little).

4Put the two mixtures together and mix thoroughly.

5Add milk and vanilla.

6Mixture will be thin.

7Pour in 9-inch unbaked pastry shell and bake until firm, about 30 to 45 minutes.

8Bake at 375°.

9Cool and cover with usual meringue.

10Brown lightly at 350°.
