  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1/8 tsp. cream of tartar
  • 2 egg whites
  • 1/2 c. chopped pecans
  • 3/4 c. chocolate chips
  • 3 Tbsp. hot water
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 c. whipped cream

Directions

    Sift sugar and cream of tartar.

    Beat egg whites stiff, but not dry.

    Add sugar very slowly while beating until smooth and glossy.

    Place in well buttered pie plate, making it thin in the bottom and not putting it on the rim.

    Sprinkle with pecans. Bake in a 270° oven for 1 hour or longer, until brown and crisp. Cool on rack until cold.
