- 1 c. shortening
- 2 c. sugar
- 4 eggs
- 2 tsp. vanilla
- 1 c. buttermilk
- 3 c. sifted all-purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp. soda
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 (4 oz.) pkg. German sweet chocolate, melted
Directions

1Cream the shortening and sugar in a bowl.

2Beat in eggs, vanilla and buttermilk.

3Sift in flour, soda and salt.

4Stir until blended.

5Add chocolate.

6Mix well.
-
7Pour into a greased and floured tube pan.

8Bake at 300° for 1 to 1 1/2 hours or until cake tests done.

9Let stand, covered, until cool.
