Chocolate Pound Cake

  • 1/2 lb. butter
  • 1/2 c. Crisco
  • 3 c. sugar
  • 7 Tbsp. cocoa
  • 5 eggs
  • 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 c. milk
  • 3 c. flour (cake or plain)

    Cream butter, Crisco and sugar until creamy.

    Add eggs one at a time.

    Beat well.

    Add vanilla.

    Sift flour and cocoa with baking powder.

    Add to creamed mixture, adding flour first, then 1/4 of milk until all flour and milk has been added to creamed mixture. Bake at 275° for 2 hours.

    Bake this in large tube pan.

    Cool in pan 10 minutes, then turn onto wire rack to completely cool.
