- 1 1/2 c. butter
- 3 c. sugar
- 2 tsp. vanilla extract
- 5 eggs
- 1 1/2 tsp. instant coffee
- 1/4 c. hot water
- 2 c. all-purpose flour
- 3/4 c. baking cocoa
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 1 c. buttermilk
- 1/4 c. confectioners sugar
Directions

1Preheat oven to 325°.

2Cream the butter, sugar and vanilla in mixer bowl for about 5 minutes or until light and fluffy.

3Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.

4Dissolve coffee powder in hot water.

5Sift flour, cocoa, salt and baking powder together.

6Add to creamed mixture alternately with coffee and buttermilk, beating just until blended after each addition. Pour into well-greased and floured, fluted tube pan.

7Bake for 1 hour and 10 minutes to 1 hour and 20 minutes or until cake tests done.
