  • 2 c. flour
  • 2 c. sugar
  • 1 stick margarine
  • 1/2 c. Crisco
  • 4 Tbsp. cocoa
  • 1 c. water
  • 1/2 c. buttermilk
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 2 eggs, slightly beaten
  • 1 tsp. vanilla

Directions

    Sift flour and sugar in a large bowl.

    In a saucepan, add margarine, Crisco, cocoa and water.

    Bring to a rapid boil.

    Pour over flour and sugar.

    Stir well.

    Add buttermilk, soda, eggs and vanilla.

    Mix well.

    Pour into a greased pan.

    Batter will be thin.

    Bake 15 minutes at 400°.

    Start frosting as soon as cake is in oven.
