Ingredients

  • 1/2 gal. water
  • 1 hen
  • 2 lb. beef
  • 1/4 lb. bacon
  • 5 c. onions
  • 5 c. carrots
  • 5 c. cabbage
  • 2 1/2 c. green beans
  • 10 c. tomatoes
  • 8 c. potatoes
  • 3 Tbsp. sugar
  • 3 Tbsp. salt
  • 2 tsp. pepper
  • 5 c. corn

Directions

    Cook hen , beef and bacon in 1/2 gallon of water for 2 hours. Then add onions, carrots, cabbage, green beans and tomatoes.

    Cook 1 1/2 hours.

    Then add potatoes, sugar, salt and pepper.

    Cook 1 1/2 hours.

    Then add corn and cook at least 15 minutes.

    Makes 2 1/2 to 3 gallons.

    It sticks very easily, so cook over low heat and stir often.
